Lawrence Weston Community Farm

Welcome

Lawrence Weston Community Farm is a community-managed project that aims to improve the quality of life for local people.

We do this by working with members of the local community and other groups to provide exciting and inclusive activities, as well as a safe, free, green community space. The farm wants to provide a supportive environment in which people can flourish and contribute positively to their community.

Trustees needed to join our Management Committee... can you help?

The farm is recruiting additional Trustees to help shape and guide its future development and service delivery.

About the Farm:

Lawrence Weston Community Farm is a community-managed project that aims to enable and support local people to make long-lasting, positive improvements to their lives. The farm does this by working with members of the local community, and others, to provide a range of innovative and exciting, educational, social, environmental, economic and recreational activities. As well as providing opportunities to experience the daily delights of community farming and gardening, the farm also brings people together, helps individuals and communities to grow, promotes health and wellbeing, produces fresh, affordable local food and enables people to connect with the natural environment.

About Being a Trustee:

As a Trustee you will help to ensure the farm is:

  • Doing what it should be doing - meeting the needs of the local community through its charitable aims
  • Well managed – meeting financial, legal and organisational requirements
  • Heading in the right direction - developing in line with its business plan and the changing needs of the local community

About You:

You do not need to be an expert, although if you do have skills and experience that might help the farm, so much the better!

We are looking for people who support what we do and who can give a few hours a month to help us continue to develop as a valued and successful community asset.

If you want to help make positive changes locally, we want to hear from you !

Please Support the Farm

Lawrence Weston Community Farm is a registered charity. We do not charge for entry, so every donation we receive helps us remain as a free, safe, public green space for the enjoyment of everyone. Donations help us to continue to support many people in need in our local community with our targeted services, activities and projects.

Leave a Gift in your Will

Leaving a legacy in your Will, large or small, to Lawrence Weston Community Farm would make a real difference by helping us to continue to meet the needs of our local community, not just now, but also in the years to come.

5 Ways to Wellbeing

The 5 Ways to Wellbeing have been developed as a way of improving our mood and how we feel about ourselves. Visiting, volunteering and taking part in activities on the farm can help you to achieve all of these and start to improve the way you feel about yourself and the world.

Connect... Feeling close to and valued by people and your wider community is vital to feeling happy. When you volunteer at the farm you become a valued member of our team and also have the chance to meet new people and make new friends. You could meet up at the farm with a friend or reach out to someone you know who might be lonely. Have a stroll around the farm and see the seasons change and see the animals.

Be Active... Regular physical activity can lower rates of anxiety and depression. Volunteering outside at the farm whether it is looking after the animals, gardening or maintenance gets you outside in the fresh air, sunshine and nature.

Take Notice... Becoming aware of your surroundings and being present in the moment enhances your wellbeing. You can do this at anytime, but the farm can be a beautiful place to practice being present.

Keep learning... Continued learning through life enhances self-esteem and boosts self confidence. There is lots of opportunity for learning at the farm, either informally through carrying out tasks, or on one of our courses or our fun holiday activities.

Giving... Participating in community projects and giving your time can really improve your sense of wellbeing. By volunteering at the farm, you are taking an active role in your community and being part of something meaningful.
